Denying and ignoring a negative or traumatic event is a coping mechanism,necessary to a point, but it can end up affecting your life in a very deep way if left unresolved. Your brain is constantly seeking to protect you, that means it will constantly scan for danger, which is a healthy process because it keeps you safe, however, when you have gone through an unpleasant situation, your brain can get stuck there and it can be very hard to find moments of peace and relaxation. Have you found yourself looking for the negative, expecting a tragedy or simply thinking that there is nothing good available to you?
Operating from that place can result in negative emotions like anger, resentment, skepticism, and a lack of trust in others and in yourself, but there are things you can do to change that. In this episode you'll learn the first step you need to take to move your focus to healthier thoughts and start fostering positive thinking and ultimately, shift your whole perspective and start engaging with the world in a more positive way.
